Why Become an Ambassador?

Ambassadors are an exclusive group of individuals who volunteer for Chamber member organizations, believe in the Chamber's mission, support their community, and provide assistance with many of the Chamber's activities and events. Ambassadors have an opportunity to represent and promote the Chamber, connect, engage with other members and key business stakeholders, and promote their own business at Chamber events.

Ambassador Requirements

The term of an Ambassador is one calendar year (from January to December or from July to June - depending on when you are voted in). In order to be eligible to become an Ambassador, you must:

  • Represent a business that is a Chamber member in good standing.
  • Dress in business attire and wear name badges at all events.
  • Maintain a minimum of 70 points per quarter through the Ambassador points system.

Duties and Responsibilities

As an Ambassador, you should:

  • Attend monthly meetings/drop-in visits to area businesses. The visits begin at 10:00 a.m. and end with lunch at 11:30 a.m. at a member restaurant. Visits/meetings are on the fourth Tuesday of each month, except for holidays and Chamber annual events.
  • Attend Ribbon Cuttings to show support for new members.
  • Attend Business After Hours and assist with greeting, check-in, and member engagement.
  • Promote/share Chamber events and activities on business or personal social media channels.
  • Maintain knowledge of the Chamber and its programs and events.
  • Contact new Chamber member investors by phone or face-to-face visits.
  • Represent the Chamber in a professional manner.

Points and Recognition

A point system has been established. Each Ambassador is responsible for keeping track of their points and for signing in at each activity to receive full credit. Point sheets are due at the Ambassador monthly meeting.

An award system has been developed on a point basis for the purposes of identifying award winners throughout the year. These awards consist of, but are not limited to, Ambassador of the Quarter and Ambassador of the Year.

How to Become an Ambassador

Individuals can be self-nominated or referred to the Ambassador Program by a Huntsville-Walker County Chamber of Commerce member. The main fee involved with being an ambassador is to cover the cost of meals and your name tag. Meal costs vary depending on the restaurant.
